Auto Listening [PRO]
Use the Auto Listening Feature if you want to achieve that the speaker (e.g. interpreter) will automatically be able to listen to a certain other channel, without having to push the "Play" button of any channel. This is usually only needed for more complex setups, like relay interpretation.
Note: Auto Listening only affects speakers, like interpreters. It has no effect on listeners!
Here is a practical example:
You want to do relay interpretation, because not all of the interpreters speak all other languages.
In our example the main language, which all interpreters understand, is English.
Auto Listening for the English channel:
- The interpreter who gives relay (who understand the language currently spoken on stage) always needs to listen to the Floor channel.
- Therefore, for the English channel Auto Listening is set on "Floor".
- So, as soon as an interpreter gets into the English channel, he will automatically hear the Floor channel.
Auto Listening for the German channel (and all others):
- The interpreter who takes relay (from the one who interprets to English), always needs to listen to the English channel.
- Therefore, for the German and all other language channels, Auto Listening is set on "English".
- So, as soon as an interpreter gets into the German or Spanish channel, he will automatically hear the English channel.
You find the setting for each channel when you click "Edit channel" :
Note: When Auto Listening is set for its own channel (e.g. English in the English channel), Auto Listening will only start in the Lobby, which means when you are not the active speaker. Otherwise you would hear yourself. 😉
