Disable audio for specific applications
To disable audio for specific applications in Windows 10, 11 and Mac, you can use the Volume Mixer to mute individual programs. Here's how:
Using the Volume Mixer:
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of the screen).
- Select “Open Volume Mixer” from the context menu.
- In the Volume Mixer window, you'll see sliders for your speakers and all currently running applications that produce sound.
- Locate the application for which you want to disable the audio.
- Click the speaker icon below the application's volume slider to mute it.
This method allows you to control the audio output of individual applications without affecting the system's overall sound settings.
Note: The application must be running and producing sound to appear in the Volume Mixer. If you don't see the application listed, try playing audio through it to make it appear in the mixer.
